Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program OR three (3) years’ experience as a medical assistant.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in performing EKGs.
- Six (6) months of physician office experience.
- Obtains initial assessment with patient and prepares patient exam. Takes vital signs.
- Assist physicians with procedures and treatments
- Obtains guarantor information from patients and prepares patient charges regarding lab tests. Obtains authorizations and referrals as appropriate.
- Prepares patient folders.
- Performs EKG's.
- Performs sterile and isolation techniques; follows all OSHA standards.
- Maintains other work area in a clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection or disease to patients, visitors and personnel.
- Provides care and education appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Assess information relative to patient's status and interprets this information to identify the age specific needs of each patient.
- Transports lab specimens, information and supplies between the satellite office and WMC.
- Enters physician's orders which includes but is not limited to patient charging, referral arrangements and scheduling outpatient testing.
- Issues patient statements manually or via electronic billing system. Collects patient co-pays and establishes a daily cash balance sheet.
- Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying of materials and equipment weighing 40 lbs.
- Must be able position and/or lift patients, and stand or walk 8 hours per day.
- Work is performed in a normal clinical outpatient environment.
- Position is frequently exposed to biohazards, as well as communicable disease.
- Position requires ability to respond quickly to varying demands from provider and patient.
- Demonstrates proficient use of the electronic record and basic computer skills.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills and consistently maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively with fellow caregivers and supervisors.
