Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR certification.
- Successful completion of the Basic Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation course with a minimum score of 80% on the post test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of healthcare related experience EMT experience.
- Admits patient to the Central Monitoring Station.
- Continuously observes the telemetry monitor tracings to interpret rhythms and validate alarms.
- Mounts monitor strips, documents the interpretation on the strip, and faxes those strips to patient care units where they are being remotely monitored from.
- Notifies the IMC Charge RN of dysrhythmias.
- Places the original, mounted monitor strips on the patient’s medical record.
- Performs EKG’s, blood glucose monitoring and obtains vital signs when directed by the RN.
- Maintains cooperative and professional relationships and provides support and assistance to physicians and co-workers.
- Attends and participates actively in a minimum of three staff meetings annually.
- Supports and adheres to hospital and patient care policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient data at all times.
- Reports any safety or risk management problems to charge nurse or appropriate hospital personnel.
- Assists with preceptorship program when required.
- Maintains an understanding of the range of treatment necessary for each patient and provides appropriate care based on their age specific needs.
- Manual dexterity used in operating standard office equipment.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Vision (corrected)/hearing within normal limits.
- Ability to visually monitor several computer screens with multiple cardiac rhythms, pulse oximetry and capnography waveforms for sustained periods of time.
- Standard clinical environment.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the nursing process
- Demonstrates an understanding of the established nursing standards
- Ability to care for all ages of patients, understanding the special needs of the very young and the elderly
- Demonstrates computer skills and ability to apply those skills
