Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Must be enrolled as a professional nursing student in a Diploma Program, Associate, or Baccalaureate RN program of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Must provide proof of current, continuing enrollment at the completion of each semester. Examples of acceptable documentation include a transcript and next semester schedule or a confirmation letter from the school.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living according to need in a timely manner.
- Safely transports patients to all tests and procedures as well as escorts patients for discharge.
- Obtains and records assigned patient temperatures, pulse rates, respiratory rates, blood pressures, intake and output, weight and abdominal girths.
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
- Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
- Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
- Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate staff.
- Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
- Assists with personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
- May act in the role of a sitter for a patient as assigned by the charge RN.
- Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
