In collaboration with the healthcare team, the Staffing Clerk is responsible for defined operational duties supporting the Nursing Support Services department. The Staffing Clerk if responsible for the monitoring of staffing for each shift and collaborating with the House Supervisor to make appropriate staffing decision based on patient needs on each nursing unit. The Staffing Clerk monitors unit census and available staffing via the electronic scheduling system. The Staffing Clerk coordinates the clerical functions for the department and demonstrates professional communication skill aligning with the defined Standards of Behavior.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in professional of office practice.
- Accurately identifies staffing requirements of all nursing units utilizing staffing grids and facilitates assignments.
- Follows hospital policies and staffing guidelines when performing the centralized function of the staffing office.
- Maintains reports as directed.
- Works with nursing leadership team to identify scheduling issues and develop plans to resolve issues, improve outcomes, and exceed customer expectations.
- Accountable for promoting positive customer relations, establishing credibility and professionalism of department and hospital by communicating clearly and effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and team members.

- Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and monitors a safe environment for staff work practice.
- Basic computer skills and / or word processing, 50 (wpm) with accuracy.
- Ability to work based on operational needs of the hospital
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Possess ability to relay information, and deal tactfully and harmoniously with others.
- Ability to organize and function independently.
- Must be able to handle high stress situations
- Ability for efficiently operate office equipment including computers, fax, copiers, and telecommunications systems.
