Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Successfully pass WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check for applicable areas.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Formal training beyond high school (i.e., technical school, apprenticeship, or college)
- Two (2) year experience in building maintenance
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge, repair, inspection use of hand tools and power tools commonly used in building maintenance and plant repairs.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge, repair, use, and the instruction in the use of measuring devices such as rulers, calipers, dividers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively use and instruct in the proper use of test equipment required for building repairs and maintenance (i.e. VOM/Ohm Meter, electronic receptacle analyzer, safety testing equipment, infrared devices, etc.).
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of repair procedures practices related to drywall, wall coverings, carpentry, plumbing devices, electrical work, painting, door hardware, lock cylinders, drain blockage, and general building and machine repairs as monitored by managers and team leaders.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge and proper compliance procedures of Plant Safety Practices (i.e. safety glasses, S.D.S., lockout, OSHA, NFPA 99, NEC, Hazardous Communication, Infectious Control, and JCAHO standards).
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge and proper safe use of general maintenance chemicals and liquids (i.e. solvents/paints, drain openers, degreasers, etc.).
- Demonstrates understanding of welding technique and practices.
- Demonstrates a general knowledge of storeroom inventory and inventory control procedures.
- Respond to trouble calls through the Facilities Engineering dispatcher and routine work orders.
- Assist Facilities Engineering technicians with preventive maintenance work orders on building systems and equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge pertaining to the operation of the fire alarm system (i.e. pull stations, re-set procedures, zones, elevator functions), during normal and activation alarm conditions.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the plumbing system (i.e. main valves, zone shut-off valves one-line diagrams, hot and cold domestic loops, and etc.).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the nurse call system (i.e. master station, patient stations, pillow speakers, and etc.).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution system (i.e. main switchgear and sub-stations, transfer switches, one-line diagram, panel identification, and etc.).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the patient care equipment.
- Assures the technical competence in the Facilities Engineering field by attending in-services, reading trade literature, and schools.
- Completes specific TPC training courses, as documented on training records. Participates in on-the-job training.
- Provides on-the-job training for the technician assistant in regard to systems, policies and procedures, safety precautions, and proper working practices.
- Ensures technician assistant is performing in a cost effective and efficient manner.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Hospital’s cost reduction goals and promote ways to achieve cost saving recommendations in the Facilities Engineering department.
- Must have the physical capability to stand, walk, reach, climb, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, for a maximum of six (6) to eight (8) hours.
- Must have the physical capability to lift and/or carry 1‑15 pounds for a maximum of six (6) to eight (8) hours and 15 to 60 pounds for a maximum of two (2) hours.
- Must have the physical capability to push and/or pull 1‑15 pounds for a maximum of six (6) to eight (8) hours and 15 to 90 pounds for a maximum of two (2) hours.
- Uses proper precautions in the performance of duties in which the following exposures may occur: temperatures above 100~F and/or below 45~F for sustained periods; heights above 6 feet, i.e., ladders, scaffolding, etc.: vibrations; skin and/or lung irritants such as solvents, paints, lubricants, etc.
- Appropriate dress for above-mentioned exposures is required.
- Use of Safety equipment is required.
- Use of protective wear, such as goggles, gloves, boots, masks, etc., is required.
- Corrects and reports any equipment related conditions which may compromise patient or staff safety and efficiency.
- Respond to trouble calls through the Facilities Engineering dispatcher and routine work orders.
- Must complete vision screening test for near and far vision. Must screen 20/40 or better or will be referred to the Eye Center.
- Knowledge of the computer maintenance management program for tracking history used in the performance management process.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, shop drawings, specifications, schematics drawings, etc
