Description

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor in the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty rank position that is eligible for promotion and merit raises, which involves a level of effort of about 80% assigned to teaching and 20% assigned to departmental service. The teaching function involves classroom teaching of approximately 7 to 8 sections of Environmental Engineering courses per academic year. The service element of the position involves serving on faculty committees, serving as liaison to other WVU units, and participating in planned student-related retention, recruitment, and outreach activities.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates must hold an earned doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline, such as Chemical Engineering at the time of appointment. Candidates must have at least one year of teaching undergraduate environmental engineering courses, and expertise in hands-on lab support and solving real-world problems. Candidates with active research in their area of expertise and academic publications are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will greatly benefit from the resources offered by the Wadsworth Department, Statler College, the industry partners and other collaborators.

The Wadsworth Department offers B.S. Civil Engineering, B.S. Environmental Engineering, M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. A new B.S. degree program in Construction Management will be offered starting in Fall 2026.
