Medical Externship Coordinator
Morgantown, WV; In office Monday-Friday (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Externship Coordinator to bridge the gap between classroom learning and healthcare careers. You will secure, manage, and oversee clinical externship placements for our healthcare students (Clinical Medical Assistants, Medical Office Administration, Medical Coding, and Healthcare Administration programs). Your work directly impacts student graduation rates and employment success.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure Externship Placements: Creating, building, and fostering partnerships with local clinics,hospitals, and medical offices.
- Match Students: Assign students to appropriate externship sites based on program and
- accreditation-specific requirements.
- Ensure Ethics and Compliance: Verify student immunizations, background checks, and CPRcertifications.
- Keep apprised of and abide by all Federal and State regulations and accreditationcriteria as they pertain to the duties and responsibilities of this position, and keep apprised ofand abide by all organizational and institutional policies and procedures as they pertain to theduties and responsibilities of this position.
- Site Visitations: Travel to clinical sites to evaluate student progress and environmental safety.
- Maintain Records: Track attendance, monitor log completion, performance evaluations, viablesite completions, and affiliation agreements.
- Conduct Externship Orientations: Prepare students for clinical expectations and professionalconduct.
- Teaching: Instruct courses every six weeks based on qualifications. This would include any of theexternship courses, as well as clinical courses.
- Accreditation and Compliance: Conduct internal audits correlating with the accreditationstandards, assist in maintaining documentation of compliance activities, assist in thepreparation of reports to regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, and the management team,and regularly assess compliance processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 3 years in healthcare, healthcare administration, recruiting, or career services.
- Credentials: CMA, RMA, or CMAA certification is a strong plus; otherwise, will obtain necessarycertification within the first year of employment.
- Skills: Excellent networking, organization, and database management abilities.
- Vehicle: Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for site visits.
