We're looking for a writer who can dig into news stories and sports as well as bring community feature content to life in print and web-based publications.
Will consider an entry-level reporter or veteran journalist who is comfortable with all forms of digital and social media. The key traits are people skills, writing ability, motivation and the development WV News content.
Responsibilities
- Research and gather information on various news topics through interviews, public records, and other sources.
- Write clear, concise, and engaging news and sports articles.
- Conduct interviews with relevant sources to provide depth and context to news stories.
- Edit and proofread articles for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Utilize photography and videography skills to enhance storytelling through visual media.
- Manage social media accounts by posting updates, engaging with followers, and promoting news content.
- Fact-check all information before publication to ensure accuracy and credibility.
- Collaborate with editors and other reporters to develop story ideas and coverage plans.
- Stay informed about current events and trends in the community to identify potential news stories.
