PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The CTE Academy Specialist is responsible for securing new partnership, maintaining relationships with the business community, as well as working closely with the campus principal and the CTE Director in all areas to promote a successful education for students. The CTE Academy Specialist is also responsible for assisting the CTE teachers with monitoring students in their assigned workplace setting, working closely with establishing and maintaining student internships (as defined in the district CTE Internship Handbook). The CTE Academy Specialist will also work closely with the campus CTE teachers in providing career experiences and job shadowing opportunities for all students.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- 3 years’ job related experience
Preferred:
- Valid Texas Teacher certificate as required by the State Board of Education Certification
- At least 3 years of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledge of CTE pathways, endorsements, and curriculum & instruction
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Leadership Skills
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assists campus CTE teachers in:
- Teaching workplace competencies and assigning students to work base environments
- Assisting in the supervision of interns in internship/mentor workplace
- Working with CTE staff and business partners to place students in the best intern working environment
- Training student interns to prepare them for workplace experience
- Coordinating and monitoring the data for internships and certifications
- Working with staff preparing and evaluating students’ completion and presentation of Capstone projects
- Provide career experiences and job shadow opportunities for all students (9th – 12th grade)
- Initiates new business partnerships and maintains relationships with current partners:
- Working with internship business providers
- Maintains data to record business partnerships
- Actively participates and informs community organizations and sub-committees as it relates to CTE programs
- Seeks opportunities to inform community of district CTE programs
- Works with CTE Advisory Board committees
- Establish orientation for business community intern providers
- Remains current on future and current job trends
- Exemplifies professionalism in behavior and performance:
- Work with campus principal in all areas to promote success
- Work with CTE director to ensure success of CTE programs
- Remains current in education through literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations, etc…
- Works with all staff in the successful progression of students in their CTE pathway
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Reports to and is evaluated by campus principal
- Works with CTE Director on district wide events representing campus
