POSTED ON 10/28/2026

Description

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering's IT group has a Project Manager opportunity in our Eden Prairie, MN office. This person is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing client-facing IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through completion. This role independently manages multiple projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and client expectations are effectively coordinated and maintained.

The IT Project Manager works closely with engineers, technical leads, clients, vendors, and stakeholders to drive project execution, resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability for project commitments. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining project schedules, monitoring project financials and resource utilization, managing risks and dependencies, supporting proposals and change orders, and providing clear, proactive project status reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably in IT infrastructure, networking, systems integration, or technical services environments. This individual must be capable of independently driving project activities, anticipating delivery challenges, communicating schedule and scope impacts, and escalating issues appropriately while partnering with technical teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently manage multiple concurrent IT/OT infrastructure and technical services projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, resource plans, and project documentation using Microsoft Project and other project tracking tools.
  • Coordinate engineers, technical leads, project teams, clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project activities and deliverables remain aligned with established commitments.
  • Lead project meetings, establish agendas, document decisions, assign action items, and drive follow-through on outstanding tasks, dependencies, and commitments.
  • Proactively monitor project progress against scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables; identify potential delays, resource constraints, and risks, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain project RAID logs, action registers, decision logs, change documentation, and other project controls to support visibility, accountability, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Communicate project status, milestones, risks, issues, resource constraints, and schedule impacts to clients, technical teams, and leadership in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule, deliverables, resource availability, and project changes. Facilitate discussions to resolve conflicts and align stakeholders on priorities and next steps.
  • Coordinate resource planning and capacity management with technical leads and management, identifying scheduling conflicts, competing priorities, and resource needs across active projects.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including labor hours, budgets, estimates, forecasts, and resource utilization. Identify potential overruns or variances and communicate impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support and coordinate proposal development, project estimates, scope definition, change orders, and related commercial documentation. Evaluate the potential schedule, resource, and financial impacts of proposed changes.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, vendor follow-up, equipment readiness, and other project dependencies as required to support execution.
  • Identify gaps in project information, technical inputs, approvals, and deliverables; establish owners and due dates and drive resolution to prevent downstream schedule impacts.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand project requirements, dependencies, and delivery constraints without assuming responsibility for engineering decisions outside the project manager's expertise.
  • Maintain project documentation and collaboration spaces using SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and other applicable platforms.
  • Provide consistent project reporting to management, including schedule health, budget status, resource requirements, risks, issues, and upcoming milestones.
  • Drive project closeout activities, including deliverable confirmation, documentation completion, financial reconciliation, lessons learned, and stakeholder signoff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, reporting practices, resource coordination, and consistency across the IT/OT project delivery organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in IT/OT, IT infrastructure, networking, systems integration, industrial automation, or a related technical services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through execution and closure, including responsibility for schedules, deliverables, stakeholder coordination, and project reporting.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and managing competing priorities, dependencies, deadlines, and resource constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings, communicate with clients, facilitate discussions, and provide proactive status updates.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify project risks and issues, drive action-item resolution, manage escalations, and communicate schedule or scope impacts before they affect delivery.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and maintain accountability for project outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Preferred

  • Experience managing IT infrastructure, enterprise networking, hardware deployment, data center, systems implementation, or industrial technology projects.
  • Familiarity with networking and infrastructure concepts, including LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, network connectivity, cybersecurity, or industrial control environments.
  • Experience working with IT/OT systems, manufacturing, industrial facilities, critical infrastructure, or other technically complex client environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Planner, Visio, SharePoint, OneNote, Salesforce, or similar project management, collaboration, and business systems.
  • Experience with project budgeting, labor-hour tracking, forecasting, resource capacity planning, proposal development, project estimates, procurement coordination, and change management.
  • Experience working directly with external clients and coordinating delivery across multiple technical teams, departments, or business units.
  • CAPM, PMP, or other recognized project management certification, or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, shifting priorities, and evolving client needs while maintaining effective project controls and communication.
