Role Overview – Senior Incoming Specialty Client Manager – Lead U.S. Broker

This senior‑level hybrid role sits at the intersection of advanced U.S. broking execution, market leadership, and strategic client advisory within global insurance programs. The Senior Incoming Specialty Client Manager / Lead U.S. Broker is accountable for leading U.S. placements, driving negotiation outcomes, and providing guidance for complex small‑to‑mid‑sized multinational client programs, requiring hands‑on client management/broking expertise, market negotiation, and strategic risk judgment.

In addition to placing and negotiating large or strategically significant insurance programs, the role provides elevated advisory support—reviewing client risk profiles, coverage adequacy, and contractual exposures—while applying strong business and financial acumen to insurance decision‑making. The position includes informal leadership and mentorship responsibilities.

The Role

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as the U.S. broker for complex small‑to‑mid‑sized multinational client programs, partnering with global colleagues and insurance carriers to deliver aligned U.S. placements and advisory support.
  • Independently lead placement and negotiation of larger, more complex, or strategically significant U.S. insurance programs, while providing guidance and oversight to brokers managing smaller or less complex placements.
  • Drive carrier negotiation strategy by leveraging market relationships and exercising judgment across pricing, coverage, structure, and long‑term client objectives.
  • Act as a U.S. advocate for clients, proactively reviewing risk profiles, coverage structures, and program adequacy to identify gaps, improvement opportunities, and optimization strategies.
  • Perform or oversee insurance program reviews, coverage audits, and risk assessments, ensuring alignment with client operations, growth initiatives, and evolving exposures.
  • Review insurance sections of client contracts and agreements to advise on appropriate coverage considerations.
  • Provide strategic insurance and risk advisory, demonstrating strong business acumen and awareness of the financial impact of insurance decisions on total cost of risk and overall client outcomes.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, insurance markets, internal stakeholders, and offshore Global Service Delivery teams, setting the standard for clarity, responsiveness, and professionalism.
  • Support retention and growth of assigned accounts through trusted advisory relationships, complex problem‑solving, and consistent delivery of high‑quality outcomes.
  • Provide informal leadership and mentorship to Client Managers and Client Specialists, offering technical guidance and supporting effective collaboration.
  • Oversee execution quality across Global Service Delivery teams on endorsements, audits, billing, and documentation; resolve escalations and ensure service standards, controls, and timelines are met.
  • Support fee strategy, scope management, and financial discipline on assigned accounts, maintaining awareness of profitability, cost of service, and commercial impact.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements, including surplus lines, sanctions, SOX, FATCA, and the Excellence model.

Qualifications

The Requirements

  • 8 years of commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience in a client‑facing and market‑facing brokerage role.
  • Proven ability to lead carrier negotiations and independently place larger or more sophisticated U.S. insurance programs.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic, consultative insurance and risk advisory, including risk assessment, coverage evaluation, and program design for small‑to‑mid‑sized U.S. clients.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to assess and articulate the commercial implications of insurance decisions on total cost of risk and client outcomes.
  • Experience reviewing or advising on contracts, operational exposures, and insurance implications, in partnership with clients and internal resources.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to lead complex discussions with clients, insurance markets, global partners, and offshore Global Service Delivery teams; foreign language proficiency is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide informal leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to brokers and support staff while operating in a matrixed, global operating model.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and handle complexity in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Advanced technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office and brokerage platforms, with the ability to adapt to evolving systems, tools, and processes.
  • Active U.S. Property & Casualty broker license with required continuing education.
