A tile finisher, working alongside tile setters, specializes in the final stages of tile installations, including applying grout, cleaning surfaces, and performing finish work like caulking and sealing.
A tile finisher, working alongside tile setters, specializes in the final stages of tile installations, including applying grout, cleaning surfaces, and performing finish work like caulking and sealing.
- Grouting: Applying grout between tiles using a rubber trowel (float) to fill joints and create a finished look.
- Cleaning: Removing excess grout and cleaning the tiled surfaces to ensure a polished finish.
- Caulking: Applying caulk to seal joints and edges, particularly in areas like showers, tubs, and countertops.
- Sealing: Applying sealers to grout to make it stain- and water-resistant.
- Material Handling: Preparing and mixing materials like mortar and grout according to standard formulas.
- Setting Up and Cleaning: Setting up materials at the job site, moving tiles and tools, and cleaning up after the installation.
- Other Duties:
- Cutting tiles to size using power saws or tile cutters.
- Aligning and straightening tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges.
- Preparing surfaces for tiling by applying mortar or other adhesives.
- Applying caulk, sealers, acid, steam, or related agents to caulk, seal, or clean installed tile.
- Working with various types of tiles and materials, including ceramic, marble, granite, and glass.
- May involve scaffolding.
- May also perform other tasks as needed, such as assisting with the installation of tile and stone.
- Experience: Previous experience in tile setting, masonry, or a related trade is beneficial but not required.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of different types of tiles and their properties, as well as grout and adhesive types.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy tiles and equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure a high-quality finish.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 Years of Age
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable Transportation
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
