Work Hours: Monday- Friday ; 8:00A - 2:45P
The Biology Special Education Teacher does the following:
- Plans and implements student-centered, evidenced-based instructional practices that build on student assets and are culturally responsive to promote the development of the whole child;
- Provides specially designed instruction and interventions for students' academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs;
- Collaborates with team members including related service providers and classroom staff to develop, implement and monitor IEP accommodations, modifications, supports and goals;
- Plans classroom instruction through adapting methods, materials and technology to meet students' individual needs and abilities;
- Utilizes classroom management strategies and positive behavior interventions and supports to promote student growth in self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making ;
- Evaluates and reports on students' progress at designated intervals according to school procedures;
- Operates under school policies, procedures, and regulations;
- Participates in the development of curriculum and programs, including school-wide activities and program debriefs;
- Participates in collaborative problem-solving and planning with colleagues;
- Serves as case manager for assigned students;
- Collaborates with families, outside providers and CSE
- Other duties as assigned.
