This Opportunity

WSP is seeking an Experienced Risk Assessor - Human Health or Ecological with 3-5 years of experience to support our Northwest site investigation and remediation team, and our growing national risk assessment and toxicology practice, from our Redmond, WA office.

We are seeking an experienced environmental risk assessor to collaborate with our current project teams in project planning and execution as well as public outreach and stakeholder communication. Risk assessments will be prepared to meet the requirements of the USEPA and/or state agencies, including Oregon, Washington (including MTCA), Alaska and Idaho environmental regulatory programs.

The position will involve coordination and implementation of project work associated with multimedia (air, water, and soil) risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance in the industrial/ commercial and government sectors as well as project management.

The ideal candidate would work closely with our team in the Pacific Northwest while also being part of the larger initiatives within the company. WSP offers the opportunity and flexibility to balance work in the office and from home.

Your Impact

  • This position offers the opportunity to work with experienced risk assessment professionals to support a large and diverse team of engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles/ responsibilities:
  • Conducts targeted technical assignments and manages projects tasks or specific technical elements of projects;
  • Assists with authoring proposals and projects with review and direction from Senior and Principal level risk assessors;
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses;
  • Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, computer modeling, and/or laboratory analysis;
  • Assist with preparing and implementing site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs);
  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention;
  • Provides technical review for projects to comply with environmental regulations, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications;
  • Interacts with clients and regulators in conjunction with Senior and Principal level risk assessors, particularly with scoping of risk assessments and application of the risk assessment results and conclusions in site decision-making;
  • Supports project management activities as required; and
  • Occasional travel for projects, conferences, business development, or training.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or related scientific discipline.
  • 3-5 years relevant post-education experience in conducting, authoring, and conducting technical review of multi-media environmental risk assessments.
  • Progressive career development providing environmental consulting services to clients in the industrial/commercial and/or government sectors.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with environmental risk assessment principles, procedures, and guidance.
  • Demonstrated success supporting projects for private sector and/or governmental clients.
  • Experience with scoping, managing, and conducting each of the stages of the CERCLA process; including supporting the development of work plans and QAPPs (including evaluating sampling strategies and appropriateness of data for risk) and review of multi-media baseline human health and/or ecological risk assessments for common and emerging contaminants.
  • Experience with risk communication with clients, stakeholders, and/or at conferences and professional organizations including presenting complex technical information in a concise and accurate manner.
  • Strong work ethic; must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead junior staff, and work as part of teams to achieve team objectives.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Master’s Degree Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or related scientific discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Compensation:


Expected Salary (all locations): $80,700, - $92,500


WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
