WSM Industries is a manufacturer and wholesale distributer of a comprehensive line of heating, ventilation and air conditioning products and supplies, and has been in operation for the past 114 years. The fabrication shop utilizes an array of machines, including high-speed lasers, brakes, power rolls, and welding machines. WSM is looking for a General Laborer to perform manual work of a physical nature plus related duties as required and assigned.
Responsibilities
- Deburr customer parts as needed, using a variety of tools including handheld grinders, sanders, and drills.
- Operate forklifts as needed to move materials, orders and items to specified areas.
- Picks, packages, loads and unloads customer orders/products.
- Sorts, counts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, color, or product code.
- Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate methods.
- May perform some machine work as instructed by Shop Supervisor accompanied by training and instructor or proper machine handling techniques.
- Assists in counting of physical inventory.
- May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed.
- Operate forklifts as needed to transport parts to and from work area.
- Ensures safety procedures are followed in shop area and during use of shop equipment; follows OSHA regulations and requirements.
- Wears the proper Personal Protection Equipment depending on nature of job assignment.
Skills
- 3 to 6 months experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferred.
- 6 months forklift operation experience, required.
- Detail oriented with mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient with the safe use of hand tools, including grinders, sanders, drills, and Dotco.
- Experience using manual and power tools including a tape measure, protractor, micrometer, wrenches, etc.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form.
- Exercise good judgment in decision making and prioritizing.
- Adequate written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information to co-workers and management.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Handles issues in the best interest of both customer and company.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical degree is a plus
