What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Railyard Forklift Operator - First Shift - 6:00 AM-3:30 PM Monday-Friday position at WSI Standard?
We are hiring for a first shift railyard Forklift Operator ( 6:00 AM-3:30 PM) to provide quality material handling to support operations and achieve growth. This position will report to the Facility Manager and will occasionally require weekend, holiday, and overtime work. This position is 100% outside. Starting pay is $23.00/hour.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Operate a lift truck to pick orders, load and unload trucks and railcars
- Perform inventory control activities to ensure accurate product records
- Serve our customers by providing accurate correspondence on inbound and outbound orders
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience operating a forklift to load/unload lumber and steel products.
- Experience loading and unloading trucks and railcars using lift truck equipment
- Reliable transportation to report to scheduled shift and travel between facilities as needed
- Demonstrated accuracy in counting and completing paperwork
- Previous knowledge or a desire to learn about the product being handled
- Positive, clear, and professional communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year of previous lift truck experience. Minimum 1 year of experience working in a warehouse environment
- Lumber and Steel experience is preferred.
- Experience in transloading fly ash from a railcar to a truck.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work outside the entire shift.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Must be willing and able to slide, push, or pull cases up to 60 pounds
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms that are provided by the company.
