What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Lead position at WSI Standard?
We are hiring a 1st Shift (7:00am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday) Lead to supervise, coordinate, and execute receiving activities to ensure a safe and efficient operation. This full-time hourly position starts at $24.50/Hour and will report to the Facility Manager to support our customers with high quality, accurate, and timely service.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Keep warehouse up to code by reviewing safety codes, layouts and security procedures.---- This could be worded differently remove this duty is more oriented to apply to the Manager, Assistant Manager . Replace with Perform daily safety audits on the team to ensure we are operating in a safe manner at all times.
• Coordinate and monitor orders, inbound/outbound loads and inventory discrepancies.
• Assist in hiring new employees as needed, to ensure warehouse team staffing levels.
• Plan and communicate shift objectives, monitor performance and address needs with team.
• Collaborate with all leads to forecast labor needs to control costs and contribute as an LTO.
• Coach, develop and ensure appropriate training of employees to manage performance.
• Conduct performance and annual reviews on all employees reporting to you.
• Assist with customer physical inventories/tours and offer continuous improvement.
• Learn and understand customers and step in when needed to perform those tasks.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to respond to requests promptly and resolve issues quickly.
• Effective skills in problem solving, planning, staffing, and executing warehouse operations.
• Ability to lead a diverse workforce; to effectively develop employees, and communicate objectives.
• Available during non-standard hours, access to a cell phone, and able to respond to after hour emergencies.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and technology equipment including WMS and (RF) Scanners.
- Excellent communication skills with customers and employees.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum three years of previous leadership experience in operations.
• Minimum one year in an environment picking, packing into parent units, and building pallets for shipment.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time through hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to repetitively twist or turn to drive in reverse; and stand, climb, kneel, stoop and squat, as needed.
• Ability to turn steering wheel on lift truck requiring full rotation of arms and shoulders.
• Must be willing and able to safely lift up to 60 pounds, and slide, push, or pull cases up to 150 pounds.
• Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by the company.
