What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Safety Specialist position at Wright Tree Service of the West?
Hourly Wage: $42.77 - $47.90
Essential Job Duties:

- Ensure compliance with SCE safety standard, handbook, and COSP
- Analyze safety data in various systems (Lytx, Geotab, Fleetio)
- Identify safety trends, incident reports, and processes to determine necessary corrective actions and/or training
- Compile and submit monthly safety deliverables to client
- Complete job behavior observations on field personnel within client contract and follow up with corrective actions as necessary
- Collaborate with team to identify unique safety challenges to the client and help develop appropriate trainings and/or processes to reduce future challenges
- Remain current with inspection processes and practices by performing regular field work as needed
- Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership
- Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Other Duties:

- Position may require some outside travel
- During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements:
- Knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations – OSHA, ANSI, DOT
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations relating to Utility Vegetation Management (UVM)
- Understanding of risk assessment of jobsite hazards and appropriate hazard controls
- Exhibit proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards
- Ability to train and educate employees on safety initiatives
- Ability to work both independently and as team
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Superior organization and time management skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
- Five years’ experience supporting or leading safety programs from any industry. This may include safety requirements, recognizing, and/or mitigating workplace hazards
- Complete OSHA 30 within 6 months of start date
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification
Other Preferred Requirements: (driver’s license, CDL, pesticide or herbicide license, CPR or first-aid certified)
- A state issued driver’s license with a clear MVR

The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or make general observations of the community; close visual acuity, such as reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices.
