We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Salesperson to join our team at our lumberyard in Minnesota. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of building materials and construction products, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent service to contractors, builders, and walk-in customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers and assess their needs in order to recommend appropriate lumber and building materials.
- Provide accurate product information including availability, pricing, and alternatives.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Prepare quotes, bids, and special orders for residential and commercial customers.
- Maintain strong knowledge of lumber types, grades, and applications, including seasonal and local usage trends in Minnesota.
- Coordinate with yard and delivery staff to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Build and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, and local businesses.
- Stay informed about new products and industry trends.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 1–3 years of experience in sales, preferably in lumber, building materials, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of lumber types, construction materials, and their uses.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Basic computer skills and experience with POS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions (including Minnesota winters).
