Power Technologies Program Manager

Wright Electric
Ballston Spa, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 8/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/22/2026

About Wright Electric

Wright Electric builds power systems behind the future of aerospace and defense — from 30 kW expeditionary generators to multi-megawatt airborne propulsion. Our work spans electric motors, next-generation batteries, power electronics, and complete power systems like DenseGen and Dynamo, all engineered for a step-change in power and energy density. Since 2016, we've earned the trust of some of the most demanding customers in the world, including AFSOC, the USMC, PACAF, USTRANSCOM, NASA, ARPA-E, the FAA, and U.S. Air Force programs. It's genuinely cutting-edge work.

We also move fast. Wright is an all-hands, high-ownership environment where the pace is quick and the problems are hard. The people who thrive here are the ones who dig in and drive their work to the finish. At the same time, we know sustained great work depends on rest: we respect our team's personal time and protect the boundaries that keep people sharp, healthy, and here for the long haul.

The Role

Wright Electric is hiring a Program Manager to take our technologies from R&D into production — and to deliver units on time against our contracts. You'll own the program end to end: the integrated schedule, budget, risk, supply chain, manufacturing ramp, quality, and contract deliverables. This is the person who turns a proven design into delivered hardware, on time and to spec.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional program-management role, not a people-management position: you'll drive the program across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and the customer without a team reporting to you, personally owning the plan and the follow-through. The people who thrive here are organized, decisive, and relentless about removing blockers and hitting deadlines. They understand engineering challenges and excel in stakeholder engagement, from the most junior engineer up through senior government leadership.

What You'll Own

  • Own the technology program plan — integrated schedule, milestones, budget, and risk management from R&D through production and delivery.
  • Drive the transition from prototype to volume production, coordinating manufacturing ramp, SOP development, and production-line readiness.
  • Manage supply chain and procurement for the program — sourcing, lead times, supplier quality, and mitigation of supply risk, including offshore or otherwise high-risk suppliers.
  • Own on-time delivery against contract deadlines, tracking deliverables, milestones, and acceptance.
  • Manage the customer relationship and government contract deliverables — milestones, reporting, and compliance.
  • Coordinate quality and test readiness so units meet spec and pass acceptance before delivery.
  • Identify, track, and drive program risks and open issues to resolution across teams.
  • Report program status, schedule, and risk to leadership and the customer.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 7 years of program or project management experience with hardware products.
  • Proven experience taking a hardware product from prototype to volume production.
  • Experience managing U.S. government or defense programs and contracts (e.g., DFARS, CDRLs, DCMA interface).
  • PMP or an equivalent program-management certification.
  • Strong command of schedule, budget, and risk management.
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication — able to drive teams and hit dates without direct authority.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, all-hands startup environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Able to work on-site in Malta, New York.

Preferred

  • Experience with power systems, generators, propulsion, or related electromechanical hardware.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or aerospace quality management systems.
  • Experience managing supply chain and procurement for regulated or defense hardware.
  • Familiarity with government funding and acquisition vehicles (SBIR, APFIT, OTAs, or similar).
