Duties
- Provide personalized care to residents or clients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor patients' health status by observing and recording vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks, laundry, and sanitation of living spaces.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's to assist with heavy lifting or mobility support safely.
- Observe and document patient behaviors, changes in condition, or symptoms related to conditions like dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop and implement effective care plans.
- Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid protocols to respond promptly during emergencies.
- Support residents' social engagement by encouraging participation in activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Uphold confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA guidelines during all interactions and documentation.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care needs.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs accurately.
- Experience in medication administration and understanding of care plans is advantageous.
- Familiarity with caregiving tools such as Hoyer lifts or resident's is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with team members, clients, and families.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking while maintaining compassion and patience.
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are beneficial.
