We are looking for a hands-on Production Lead to oversee daily manufacturing operations and help drive food safety, quality, efficiency, and team performance.
Position Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role ensures production goals are met while maintaining strict food safety, sanitation, quality, and workplace safety standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in manufacturing environments, can motivate teams, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain accurate production documentation.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Lead and support production employees during daily operations
- Train new employees and reinforce SOPs, GMPs, sanitation, and safety expectations
- Ensure shift documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted properly
- Manage staffing needs and communicate operational priorities to employees
- Serve as the primary point of contact for production staff during assigned shifts
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP, GMPs, OSHA, and FDA expectations
- Maintain product quality standards and ensure specifications are consistently met
- Promote a strong culture of workplace safety and sanitation
Production Operations & Efficiency
- Monitor production lines to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate maintenance concerns when necessary
- Minimize waste and improve production flow
- Partner with warehouse leadership to ensure proper placement and availability of ingredients and finished goods
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain production records, logs, inventory documentation, and timesheets
- Ensure qualitative specification testing is completed and documented accurately
- Support inventory tracking and operational reporting as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Prior food manufacturing or food processing experience
- Leadership experience in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of HACCP, OSHA, GMP, and food safety expectations
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
Preferred
- Technical training or at least 2 years of food manufacturing experience in a technical or leadership role
Work Environment
- Fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, dusty, and loud production areas
- Work around high-speed food manufacturing equipment
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting required
- Occasional extended shifts, including up to 12-hour production days
