SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting production operations, continuous improvement initiatives, quality-related activities, and new product implementation efforts. This position serves as a vital link between the manufacturing floor and the Engineering Department, providing technical support, improving manufacturing processes, and driving operational excellence. The role requires a hands-on approach and close collaboration with production personnel to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary engineering resource for manufacturing personnel by providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Act as a liaison between Production and the Engineering Department to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of manufacturing issues.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with quality investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support production and quality teams in resolving product and process-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, and engineering standards.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create and modify engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support engineering projects from concept through implementation, including tooling, equipment, fixtures, and process improvement projects.
  • Participate in new product introduction activities and assist with the transition of new designs into production.
  • Assist in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and equipment to improve manufacturing capabilities.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering teams to achieve departmental and company objectives.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and sources of waste, and implement improvements utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility.
  • Maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor, spending a good portion of each week supporting production operations.
  • Develop and deliver operator training and provide ongoing mentoring to ensure process consistency, product quality, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


EDUCATIONAL OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience and knowledge of production processes and quality systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflow optimization, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software, with SolidWorks experience required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects and issues to successful resolution.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Ability to prepare reports, procedures, and business correspondence.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance when necessary.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and perform general physical labor.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that may include varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
  • This is a hands-on position requiring regular time being spent on the shop floor.
