Baker at New General

Reports To: Kitchen Manager

Location: New General Café & Coffee Bar

Position Overview

The Baker is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods that reflect New General's clean ingredient philosophy and commitment to excellence. This role requires strong baking skills, efficiency, self-management, and exceptional attention to detail to consistently deliver products that meet our quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Execution

• Prepare and bake, bakery items including loaves, cookies, bars, and seasonal specialties.
• Follow recipes and production schedules to ensure products are ready on time.
• Maintain consistency in quality, portioning, appearance, and flavor.
• Proactively monitor inventory, rotate ingredients properly, and minimize waste.

Operations & Standards

• Work independently and efficiently while managing daily production priorities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe workstation.
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and properly maintained.
• Consistently meet New General's standards for quality, presentation, and food safety.

Team & Culture

• Communicate production needs and inventory concerns with the Kitchen Manager.
• Work collaboratively with both BOH and FOH teams.
• Support a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.

Qualifications

• 1 years of professional baking experience required.
• Experience with gluten-free and vegan baking strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistently high-quality products.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
• Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
