What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter - Civil Construction position at WP Davis Excavation LLC?
William P. Davis Excavation LLC is looking for an experienced carpenter to join our team.
While a portion of this position involves concrete-related carpentry, including forming and other miscellaneous concrete work, this is not strictly a concrete carpenter position. We value carpenters because they tend to be versatile, mechanically inclined, and comfortable solving problems in the field. The right person will have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of civil construction projects and scopes.
This position may be especially attractive to someone currently working for a larger construction company who is looking for an opportunity to have a greater impact, take on more responsibility, and become involved in more than one specific trade or task.
At W.P. Davis, you won't necessarily do the same thing every day. Depending on the project, our crews may be involved with concrete, site work, utilities, drainage, demolition, structural work, miscellaneous carpentry, and other aspects of commercial and public construction. We are looking for someone who enjoys that variety and takes pride in being a well-rounded construction professional.
We have been in business for 18 years and perform a diverse range of commercial and public-sector projects. We intentionally maintain diversity in both the contracts we pursue and the work we self-perform. Depending on the project, we may work as the General Contractor or as a Subcontractor, and our crews often self-perform multiple trade disciplines when it makes sense.
What We're Looking For
- Carpentry and general construction experience
- Experience with concrete forming is a plus
- Ability to read plans, take measurements, and lay out work
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Strong general construction knowledge and mechanical ability
- Willingness to work across different trades and scopes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- A problem-solving mindset and willingness to take ownership of the work
- Interest in learning and taking on additional responsibility
