Now Hiring: Host — The Golden Leaf (Chesterton, IN)
The Golden Leaf isn't a bar that happens to allow smoking it's a premium cigar lounge, and we're looking for a Host who understands that distinction instinctively.
Our standard is simple: a warm, classy, high-end experience — the kind only a true premium lounge can deliver. This is what you, (the host) would help provide.
What we need:
• Someone who appreciates cigar culture — or is genuinely excited to learn it
• A host, not a bartender chasing shot orders — we serve classy cocktails to guests who are here to relax and enjoy a good smoke
• Someone who reads the room: think jazz, not a Friday night bar playlist
• Professional presentation and demeanor at all times — this is an upscale space
• Reliability and boundaries with guests — we're building a community, not a scene
Requirements:
• 21 or older
• Valid alcohol serving permit
• Reliable transportation
• Cigar knowledge is a huge plus, but not required to apply
What you'll be doing:
• Mixing and serving cocktails (recipes provided)
• Opening and closing the lounge, and everything that comes with it
• Helping guests choose the right cigar and pairing, when asked — you don't need to be an expert, but you should be able to tell a Robusto from a Corona, Toro, or Gordo, and speak to mild/medium/full-bodied differences
The role:
• Fill-in shifts to start (covering when current staff can't work), with real potential to grow into a consistent schedule for the right person
• Hours: 12:30pm–10:30pm on scheduled days
• Long-term growth potential — for the right fit, opportunities may extend into our other business ventures as well
We run a tight, professional operation. Showing up or working a shift intoxicated, any level of theft (including over-pouring or giving away alcohol, which is treated as theft), and inappropriate behavior toward guests — on or off the clock — are not tolerated.
