Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Coordinator to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our participants. The Activities Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational programs tailored to the needs of seniors, particularly those with memory challenges, and individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires a compassionate individual who understands the unique challenges faced by the elderly and disabled and is committed to fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that promotes physical, emotional, and social well-being for participants.
- Plan and coordinate events, outings, and recreational activities that cater to various interests and abilities.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure activities are aligned with participants' care plans and individual preferences.
- Facilitate memory care programs that support cognitive engagement and reminiscence therapy.
- Manage schedules for activities, ensuring all events are well-organized and adequately staffed.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
- Provide support to participants in their daily activities, fostering independence while ensuring safety.
- Engage with families to encourage participation in events and gather insights on participant preferences.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or high school diploma and five years experience in long term care or geriatric setting
- Preferred to have activities and social services certification. Will consider training in recreation or related area with experience in activities or recreation.
- Experience in event planning or recreational therapy is preferred.
- Background in memory care, senior care, or long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles is a plus.
- Strong caregiving skills with an understanding of the unique needs of elderly individuals.
- Excellent schedule management abilities to effectively coordinate multiple activities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
