A different kind of clinical practice
If you're looking for a clinical role that offers greater flexibility, autonomy and work/life balance without giving up meaningful patient care, Wound Care Specialists may be the opportunity you've been looking for.

Our providers deliver weekly bedside wound-care consultations directly within nursing facilities, working alongside facility nursing teams to develop individualized treatment plans and improve wound outcomes.
We're growing and looking for Nurse Practitioners and Physicians who want to build or expand their expertise in wound care while enjoying a more predictable clinical schedule.

You don't have to be a wound-care expert to join us
Wound-care experience is preferred, but it is not required for our Connecticut and Massachusetts opportunities.
Whether you're an experienced wound-care provider or an NP/physician with a strong background in skilled nursing, geriatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, post-acute care or another relevant specialty, we provide the training and support you need to succeed.
No wound-care certification is required to start. WCS provides detailed, physician-led wound-care training and will pay for your wound-care certification.
What You'll Do
As a WCS provider, you'll work directly with nursing-facility teams to evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic wounds.
Your responsibilities include:
- Conduct weekly bedside wound-care rounds
- Evaluate wounds and develop individualized treatment plans
- Perform debridement and change dressings when clinically appropriate
- Establish and update plans of care between visits
- Collaborate with facility nurses and other members of the care team
- Provide education and occasional in-service training to facility staff
- Work within facility protocols and formularies
- Document care using our dedicated wound-care EHR
- Monitor wound progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate
Your Typical Day
Rather than spending your day in an office seeing back-to-back patients, you'll travel within your local territory and visit nursing facilities.
A full-time provider typically serves multiple facilities within a small geographic footprint, allowing you to build relationships with facility teams while maintaining a predictable schedule.
Typical caseloads after training:
NP: approximately 100–130 patient encounters/week
Physician: approximately 150 patient encounters/week
Part-time and PRN schedules of 20-100 patient encounters/week are available based on facility needs and your availability.
What we're looking for
We're looking for clinicians who are:
- Licensed to practice in the state where they will work (active state license preferred)
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with facility nursing teams
- Patient-focused and committed to quality care
- Approachable and comfortable building relationships with nursing-facility staff
- Organized and able to manage a territory efficiently
- Interested in developing expertise in wound care
Experience
Wound-care experience is preferred, but not required for CT and MA positions.
We are particularly interested in clinicians with experience in:
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Long-term care
- Post-acute care
- Geriatrics
- Internal medicine
- Family medicine
- Wound care
- Vascular care
- Surgery
- Home health
- Other settings involving complex/chronic patient care
No minimum number of years of experience is required. New graduates/residents as well as highly experienced clinicians may be considered based on the position and location.
What makes WCS different?
Practice medicine
· Our providers receive administrative support so they can keep their focus where it belongs: patient care.
Get out of the office
· If you enjoy interacting with patients and care teams rather than being confined to an office all day, you'll appreciate our bedside model.
Become a wound-care expert
· Receive detailed, physician-led orientation and training while developing a valuable clinical specialty.
Autonomy with support
· You'll have the independence to practice while working within a collaborative model supported by experienced wound-care clinicians.
Meaningful patient impact
· Our model is focused on improving wound outcomes and reducing preventable wound-related complications and hospitalizations. We are not focused on debridement quotas.
