Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed wound evaluations to determine appropriate treatment strategies.
- Implement advanced wound care procedures such as debridement, dressing changes, suturing, and application of dermal fillers or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.
- Administer medications and injections, including Botulinum toxin treatments and IV infusions, adhering to all safety protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, therapists, and case managers, to develop comprehensive discharge planning and follow-up care.
- Provide telehealth consultations to extend wound care services remotely while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound management techniques, infection control practices, nutrition, and pain management strategies to promote healing and prevent complications.
Requirements
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with current certification to practice independently in Hawai'i.
- Proven experience in wound care management with proficiency in suturing, aseptic technique, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Strong background in acute care settings including hospital medicine, ICU or trauma center experience preferred.
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards for accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including elderly patients in nursing homes or assisted living facilities; experience with pediatrics or neonatal ventilators is a plus.
- Skills in performing clinical procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to tailor individualized treatment plans effectively.
