Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Front Office Specialist to join our dedicated Wound Care team. In this dual role, you will be the first welcoming face our patients see, managing registration and check-in, while also providing vital clinical support during specialized wound care treatments and procedures.

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, excels at multi-tasking between administrative and clinical duties, and demonstrates empathy and care for patients navigating complex or chronic health conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Front Desk & Registration (Administrative)

Patient Reception: Warmly greet patients, manage check-in/check-out processes, and maintain a clean, orderly waiting area.

Registration & Intake: Verify patient demographic details, collect insurance information, scan documentation, and issue initial medical intake paperwork.

Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and specialized procedures; coordinate with referral sources and partner clinics.

Co-Pays & Billing Support: Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at check-in; verify insurance eligibility prior to visits.

Communication: Answer incoming calls, route messages to clinical staff, and manage incoming/outgoing faxes and medical records requests.

Clinical & Patient Care (Medical Assistant)

Patient Preparation: Escort patients to exam rooms, measure and record vital signs (BP, pulse, pulse ox, weight), and record medical histories in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Wound Care Support: Assist physicians and clinical specialists during wound evaluations, dressing changes, line placements, and minor procedures.

Supply & Room Setup: Prepare exam rooms before each visit with appropriate sterile fields, dressings, and instruments; restock clinical supplies and monitor inventory.

Instrument Processing: Clean, sanitize, and sterilize surgical instruments according to OSHA and clinical safety protocols.

Patient Education: Provide basic home-care instructions regarding wound dressings and follow-up care as directed by the treating clinician.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (or equivalent combination of training and clinical experience).

Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

1 years of experience in a clinical setting with demonstrated experience handling front-desk/reception duties.

Strong proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and general computer software.

Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential.

Prior experience in a specialty clinic setting (Wound Care, Dermatology, Vascular, or Surgical practice).

Basic knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
