Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including compounding and labeling prescriptions accurately.
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained and expired medications are properly disposed of.
- Support patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, reviewing medical orders, and updating patient records with medical terminology expertise.
- Provide compassionate patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques during medication preparation to prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in acute care and critical care units to facilitate timely medication delivery and administration.
Skills
- Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication management.
- Experience working in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy or hospital environments, especially within critical care or acute care settings.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care and clear communication.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, inventory management, and intake procedures.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
