Worthington Steel in Porter, IN is hiring Material Handlers to support our packaging operations. We’re not just hiring for a job — we’re looking for people who want to build a career and advance within our company. Prior manufacturing experience is helpful but not required — we provide training and clear paths for growth.

What You’ll Get
- Starting pay: $20.00/hour
- $2.00/hour shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift
- Paid training on 1st shift (7am–3pm)

Schedule
- Train on 1st shift (7am–3pm) for the first few months
- After training, transition to:
- 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) OR
- 3rd shift (11pm–7am)
- Shift premium applies once you move off 1st shift
What You’ll Do
You’ll play an important role in keeping production running safely and efficiently. Day-to-day work includes:
- Banding, packaging, and preparing materials for shipment
- Moving steel materials using forklifts and/or cranes
- Supporting production lines by staging materials and removing finished product
- Assisting with basic machine setup and operation
- Tracking and labeling materials accurately
- Keeping work areas clean and safe
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have:
- Ability to work on your feet and handle physical, repetitive tasks
- Basic math and reading skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
- Excellent attendance
- Desire to grow, take initiative, and build a long-term career
Nice-to-Have (not required):
- Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience reading a tape measure or using banding tools
- Forklift or crane experience
