Job Description

TWB Monroe is seeking a CAD Intern this summer session! Summer internships are expected to take place between May 11 and August 14, 2026.

TWB Company is North America’s market leader for tailor welded products with locations in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ontario and Mexico. The company developed the tailor welded blank market in North America and is the leading manufacturer of tailor welded products supporting JIT production and services to the automotive industry. Selected interns are assigned based on their field of study and interests within our company. These interns gain hands-on experience by completing challenging projects that apply their field of study to real world applications in manufacturing. Mentors and managers provide tools and guidance to prepare interns for success in the workplace and the classroom. We aim to teach and model soft skills such as professionalism, communication, resourcefulness, collaboration, and respect in addition to offering opportunities to gain experience and practice within their skillset. Project(s) Projects are planned based on anticipated departmental needs but may be altered based on business needs or selected intern’s skills or interests.

The CAD Intern will build an inventory floor plan for our Supply Chain team.

  • Prepares a variety of detail drawings, usually from completed engineering sketches or layouts.
  • Determines the best method of material processing of blanks, e.g. dimpling or post weld press operations.
  • Uses computer aided drafting techniques to perform applicable detailing work as well as standard and some specialized drafting tools and equipment.
  • Makes layout drawings, assist in preparing parts lists, and performs other duties as required.

Skills developed information gathering, detailed observation, communication, strategic planning, presenting, documenting, common and nonstandard CAD issues, problem resolution

Work Environment Intern will primarily work in the office within a manufacturing facility. Intern will be trained in safety and provided with the proper personal protective equipment for occasional work on the manufacturing floor.

Basic Qualifications

  • Major in a field that utilizes CAD
  • Basic knowledge and experience with PCs and MS Windows
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to compute complex and highly statistical specifications.
  • Thorough working knowledge of CAD or design related software(s)
  • Active listener able to receive and follow detailed instructions
  • Comfortable learning new systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Takes initiative and is driven to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ability to work in a team environment
