What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Controls Engineer position at Worthington Enterprises?
Worthington Enterprises (LSI Group) is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer for our Logansport Indiana plant. The person will be responsible for a broad range of moderately to complex projects. Projects include electrical, controls and safety equipment specification, procurement and installation; facility electrical upgrades and maintenance; machine controls improvements; new automation; and projects involving electrical systems (ie. PLC, HMI, Servos, VFDs, and safety controls). Candidate will support both Logan Stampings and Fabrication facilities. Further, this role will have daily interactions with all staff, production and maintenance personnel within both facilities. This role will also work closely with our Corporate Support Engineering team.
Project management:
- Work with plant personnel to identify project needs and develop scope and objectives
- Develop/manage project budget and schedules
- Develop documents needed for approval of funding
- Direct and support maintenance/integration team
- Communicate project status/metrics to stakeholders and senior management
Technical:
- Manufacturing background with capital project experience is required
- Fundamental knowledge of electrical system design and and machine controls design techniques
- Fundamental knowledge of machine and facility electrical repair and troubleshooting practices
- Fluent understanding of preventive maintenance best practices of electrical infrastructure ((ie. switch gear, transformers, busways, etc)
- Fundamental knowledge with applicable codes and standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 79, ANSI B11, ISO 13849, etc)
- Proficiency in ability to specify, build, and troubleshoot machine control systems (including safety controls), PLC/HMI software, three phase power/circuits, hydraulic circuits, pneumatic circuits and ethernet networking
- Proficiency in FANUC robotics application and programming is highly desired
Computer/Electrical Controls:
- Proficient with computer-based 2D & 3D software (i.e., ACAD, SolidWorks) for creating/maintaining facility electrical distribution schematics and machine level electrical schematics
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
- Proficient with Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence (and other) software for programming PLC’s, HMI’s, servo drives, VFDs, safety controllers, etc.
- Proficient with safety PLC programming and safety circuit wiring practices
- Fluent understanding of 480VAC, 220VAC, 208VAC, 120VAC & 24VDC circuits
- Familiarity with Fanuc CNC G Code programming a plus
- Familiarity with function block programming a plus
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical (4 Year ABET Accredited College Degree preferred)
- 3-5 plus years related experience.
