About us

Worley is a global company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia. We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

Play an integral role in leading and managing construction activities to achieve safe, on-schedule and cost-effective project delivery in accordance with contractual requirements, project objectives, and Worley standards.

You will provide direction and construction management leadership across assigned projects, establishing clear priorities and translating project and organizational objectives into executable construction plans.

You will develop a strong understanding of customer objectives, contractual requirements, project priorities, and Worley policies and use that knowledge to guide decision-making throughout construction execution. You will have the autonomy to make informed decisions and recommendations while recognizing when project risks or technical challenges require additional specialist or senior leadership involvement.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing overall direction and construction management leadership for assigned projects and construction activities.
  • Planning and defining construction objectives and developing practical methods and execution strategies to achieve them.
  • Driving safe execution and reinforcing a strong culture of safety, accountability, quality, and operational discipline across the construction organization.
  • Managing construction activities to support completion in accordance with approved scope, schedule, budget, contractual obligations, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of customer objectives, contract terms, project requirements, and applicable Worley policies and procedures.
  • Translating project plans and organizational objectives into clear priorities and direction for construction teams.
  • Coordinating construction execution with engineering, procurement, project controls, quality, safety, commissioning, contractors, and other project functions.
  • Maintaining alignment between construction requirements and the overall project schedule, identifying potential constraints and taking appropriate action before they affect execution.
  • Monitoring construction progress and performance and supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions when required.
  • Identifying construction risks, constraints, interfaces, and emerging issues and driving their timely resolution.
  • Participating in the resolution of difficult construction and technical issues by applying broad technical knowledge, sound judgment, established procedures, and appropriate internal resources.
  • Making independent decisions and recommendations on construction matters within the authority of the position.
  • Evaluating decisions with consideration for their potential safety, financial, schedule, environmental, organizational, social, and customer impacts.
  • Working collaboratively with project leadership to establish priorities and address critical areas that affect other disciplines, functions, contractors, or project stakeholders.
  • Providing practical construction input into project planning, sequencing, constructability, execution strategies, and other project decisions.
  • Supporting effective contractor and subcontractor coordination and helping ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with applicable project requirements.
  • Maintaining effective communication between the field organization, project team, customer, contractors, stakeholders, and Worley management.
  • Preparing and delivering clear construction updates, reports, presentations, recommendations, and proposals to support informed project decision-making.
  • Communicating and influencing effectively on complex construction matters, building alignment through credible recommendations and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Assigning work and providing construction and technical guidance to personnel supporting assigned projects.
  • Providing leadership to direct reports where applicable, including input into performance and development discussions.
  • Applying Worley and project systems, processes, procedures, and tools consistently across construction activities.
  • Assisting team members in effectively using construction-related systems and processes and troubleshooting issues when required.
  • Operating with a high degree of independence while proactively seeking technical or leadership guidance when project circumstances require it.

What you'll bring to the role is a strong foundation in construction combined with developing project management experience, practical field judgment, and the ability to lead people through the challenges associated with project execution.

You will ideally bring:
