Small community hospital with a dedicated and collaborative clinical team.
Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced OB Registered Nurse to support labor, delivery, and postpartum services at a federal IHS hospital in North Dakota. High autonomy role providing maternal and newborn care to a tribal community where your clinical skills directly impact maternal and infant outcomes for a population with limited access to other facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive intrapartum nursing care during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery
- Monitor and interpret electronic fetal monitoring and escalate concerns appropriately
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies
- Administer medications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and epidural support
- Perform antepartum and postpartum maternal and newborn assessments
- Provide patient and family education on labor progression, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Support prenatal and gynecological clinic services as needed
- Document accurately in the electronic health record
- Deliver culturally sensitive care to Native American patients and families
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN license — any U.S. state accepted
- Minimum 2 years OB, labor and delivery, or maternal child nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- ACLS preferred
- Ability to work independently in a rural federal healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior IHS or tribal facility experience
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification
- Cultural competency with Native American populations
Contract Details:
- Location: North Dakota — IHS Federal Hospital
- Setting: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and OB/GYN Services
- Pay: $3,007 weekly on 36 hours or $3,594 on 48 hours
- Benefits: Full insurance included at no cost
- Travel Bonus: Up to $500
- Contract Length: 13 weeks with option to extend
- Any state license accepted
