WorldWide Interpreters, Inc. is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for an upcoming in-person school assignment in New York.
The interpreter will provide professional ASL/English interpreting services in an educational setting and may work directly with students, staff, teachers, and/or other authorized personnel.
Requirements
- Professional experience providing ASL/English interpreting services
- Experience in an educational/school setting preferred
- Appropriate ASL interpreting certification/credentials preferred
- Strong communication and professional skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be willing to comply with all applicable New York State and BOCES/school district requirements
Fingerprinting / NYSED Clearance
Important: For assignments involving direct student contact on more than 5 days during a school year, New York State Education Department (SED) fingerprinting clearance is required under the applicable contract requirements.
If applicable to the assignment, the selected interpreter will be required to:
- Submit the required fingerprinting/clearance request through the New York State Education Department.
- Identify the applicable BOCES/school district as eligible to receive notice of clearance.
- Receive the required clearance before beginning the assignment.
- Comply with any additional requirements established by the BOCES or school district.
