What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler - Warehouse position at Worldwide Glass Resources Inc.?
The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting the manufacturing team by managing the efficient flow of incoming and outgoing materials. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, managing inventory, and preparing shipments. The role requires physical fitness for material handling, strong computer skills for accurate documentation, and the ability to operate forklifts and access high storage racks.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Receive incoming materials and place them in designated storage locations.
- Prepare LTL (less-than-truckload) shipments by palletizing, strapping, and stretch-wrapping as needed for safe transport.
- Prepare UPS shipments of products. Ensure products will be safely transported via over packaging as needed. Prepare domestic and international shipping documents and UPS labels.
- Support production by providing the necessary raw materials to the production locations and returning unused items to stock.
- Perform local deliveries as needed. The employee must maintain a valid NJ driver’s license.
- Create and sustain bin locations for products and raw materials. Update the bin locations in the company software system.
- Ensure the warehouses and material storage areas are safe, clean, and organized.
- Ensure products are sealed and protected from dust, insects, and other foreign matter.
- Monitor inventory levels of packaging and glass and inform the supervisor when re-order is needed.
- Perform physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
- Communicate with all departments to ensure products are being packaged, labeled and shipped accurately and promptly.
- Perform other duties as necessary for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the company.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong computer skills a must.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-starter, ability to critically think and problem solve with minimal direction
EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate or GED
- Experience in distribution, shipping and receiving functions preferred.
