Mechanical Tubing Manufacturing | Multi-Plant Environment
My client is a growing, fast-paced, technically advanced manufacturer of steel tubing serving global customers across construction, agriculture, mining, automotive, heavy truck and trailer, material handling, appliance, marine, and general industrial markets. Following a recent multi-million-dollar investment in supply chain digitization and automation, we are seeking a technically strong leader to support production, quality, and customer-facing teams while driving continuous improvement across multiple manufacturing facilities.
This role bridges engineering, quality, and customer support, ensuring technical standards are met, problems are solved quickly, and customer requirements are fulfilled with accuracy and consistency.
PLEASE NOTE: This role requires about 25% travel, so one week out of the month you will be working in a different plant other than the home one in Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical liaison between production, quality, sales, and customers
- Interpret and communicate customer specifications and industry standards (ASTM, SAE, DIN, EN)
- Support and troubleshoot manufacturing processes including welding, cold drawing, heat treat, machining, and dimensional control
- Assist customers with material performance questions, tolerances, testing requirements, and certifications
- Prepare and review product certifications, mechanical test reports, and dimensional data packages
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues and non-conforming product
- Support new product development through feasibility reviews, trials, and process validation
- Collaborate with plant teams to improve process capability, consistency, and product quality
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and compliance records
- Stay current on evolving industry standards and emerging manufacturing technologies
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across multiple facilities using data-driven methods, Lean, Six Sigma, automation, and digital manufacturing tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in manufacturing or technical services within steel, tubing, or metal forming environments.
- Strong understanding of steel grades, mechanical properties, and cold drawing processes
- Working knowledge of standards such as ASTM A513/A519, SAE J524, and EN 10305
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and inspection data
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Oracle experience preferred)
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across functions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Metallurgical testing and laboratory experience
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies
- Quality systems experience (ISO 9001, IATF 16949)
- Familiarity with CQI-9 Heat Treat and/or CQI-15 Welding assessments
- Experience implementing data-driven, standardized process improvements across multiple sites
Salary : $82,000 - $92,000
