WWPS is seeking a highly skilled Sub Fab Commissioning Specialist to join our growing team in Manassas, VA on a major semiconductor manufacturing construction project. We are seeking a Sub Fab Commissioning Specialist to support commissioning and startup activities for critical subfab systems.
This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on execution rather than management. The ideal candidate brings direct experience commissioning and supporting systems such as pumps, chillers, abatements, and vacuum systems within semiconductor or similar high-tech environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support commissioning, startup, and turnover of subfab systems including vacuum pumps, chillers, abatements, and related mechanical/process systems
- Execute field verification of system installation, ensuring alignment with design specifications and commissioning plans
- Assist with system testing, flushing, leak checks, and functional performance validation
- Work closely with construction, tool install, and facilities teams to coordinate system readiness and startup sequencing
- Track and document commissioning activities, punch list items, and system deficiencies
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and process system issues during startup
- Ensure systems are transitioned cleanly to operations and facilities teams
Required Experience
- 5 to 7 years of experience in commissioning, startup, or construction support within semiconductor, cleanroom, or advanced manufacturing environments
- Direct hands-on experience with the following systems: pumps, chillers, abatements, vacuum pumps
- Experience working in subfab environments or supporting process utility systems strongly preferred
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, turnover documentation, and system validation
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical systems knowledge with emphasis on process and utility systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, system diagrams, and construction documents
- Comfortable working in active construction and operational environments
- Strong coordination skills across construction, engineering, and facilities teams
- Semiconductor construction experience preferred
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based role within subfab and active construction environments
- May require PPE and cleanroom protocols depending on system interface points
- Fast-paced, high coordination project environment
Preferred Backgrounds
- Semiconductor fab construction or facilities
- Tool install or equipment support roles
- Industrial or mission critical commissioning (data centers, pharma, advanced manufacturing) with relevant system exposure
