Worldwide Professional Solutions is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Safety Manager (Construction) to join our growing team in Manassas, Virginia for a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing construction project. The successful candidate must have Safety Management experience related to construction in the Semiconductor Construction industry.
*Candidate must be willing to relocate to Manassas Virginia or must live locally in the area. Relocation assistance is available for an outstanding candidate. This is a long-term 2-year project. Per-Diem is not available on this opening*
Candidates must be self-motivated, technically skilled, highly organized, communicate clearly and have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Candidates’ work history must represent increased levels of responsibility on a progressive basis throughout their career. This position will work closely with the engineering, maintenance and on-site operations teams to identify and mitigate safety hazards throughout site and capital upgrade and improvement duration timelines.
\n- Serve as the technical field construction health and safety professional, providing hands-on oversight and technical assurance during construction and maintenance activities.
- Support Capital Project and Facilities Project Management teams on health and safety matters across all project phases, including design, planning, and construction.
- Conduct regular site walks and field evaluations to identify hazards and verify implementation of appropriate controls.
- Build strong working relationships with project teams and contractor safety representatives, collaborating to maintain and improve overall site safety culture.
- Lead and participate in pre-construction planning meetings with contractors to review site safety plans, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and ensure proactive risk mitigation.
- Review and audit contractors' JHAs, Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), safety programs, and daily pre-task planning for compliance with regulatory and client standards.
- Enforce safety policies, procedures, and corrective actions in accordance with client, contractor, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and conduct audits to ensure ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
- Respond to incidents, conduct thorough investigations, and submit detailed reports to clients, including documentation such as witness statements and lessons learned.
- Manage and maintain comprehensive safety documentation and recordkeeping, including incidents, near misses, first aid, recordables, and production interruptions.
- Analyze safety metrics and trends, generating reports and making data-driven recommendations to improve safety performance over project baselines.
- Assist with disciplinary actions, when necessary, in relation to safety policy violations.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and method of procedures (MOPs).
- Promote a clean, safe, and well-maintained construction site environment.
- Actively engage with field teams to provide hazard awareness, mitigation strategies, installation alternatives, and serve as a trusted resource on safety practices.
- Take a leadership role on the site safety team, contributing to the development and execution of site-wide safety goals and initiatives.
- Stay informed of industry trends, regulation changes, and new technologies, sharing relevant updates with the team.
- Collaborate with safety professionals and management to develop and deliver onboarding safety training for new employees.
- Participate in inspections, informal conferences, or meetings with regulatory agencies, insurers, or other stakeholders as needed.
- Perform other safety-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- 5 years in the Semiconductor field
- 8 years in EHS building construction safety experience for a General Contractor or a Semiconductor Client on large scale projects.
- Semiconductor Tool-Install experience a plus
- OSHA 500
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) current designation through Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) highly preferred
- Experience working on a multi-employer site a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques is required.
- Demonstrated ability to identify known potential exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions.
- Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and train others.
- AS/BS - Occupational Safety and Health or related degree and/or relevant experience
- Individual will be working primarily in a field environment with potential frequent office work, and training. Validation walks required (may include some work on ladders or lifts).
