BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Hydraulic Service Technician (HST) is responsible for repairing and/or replacing hydraulic and other hoses (e.g. dry-bulk, lay-flat water, etc.). In addition, the HST is responsible for repairing other hydraulic equipment including cylinders, valves, pumps and motors. Responsibilities may include greeting customers in the store and/or traveling to the customer location to repair or replace their broken hose or other hydraulic equipment. HST will be responsible for identifying the type of hose and fittings required to repair or replace the customer’s hose, locate the proper hose and fittings in inventory, plan to repair or replace the customer’s hose by using a variety of equipment including, calipers, thread identification kits and measuring tape and repairing and/or building the replacement hose for the customer using crimping machines or manually. HST may also participate in placing orders for inventory, receiving delivered inventory, comparing the packing list to the ordered inventory and placing the received delivery in the proper inventory location. In addition, the HST may also check out customers with the Point-of-Sale system. Training will be provided on repairing hydraulic equipment for mechanically-inclined applicants.

RECOMMENDED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

1 years of hydraulic, mechanical, field service or other hose manufacturing experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work at shop or travel to customer location to diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;
• Possess familiarity with mechanic repair tools and their proper use; Possess ability to complete work orders correctly;
• Possess ability to retrieve parts from inventory and assigning them to proper work order;
• Calculate and verify labor hours performed on each equipment repair;
• Conduct periodic inventory audits to ensure proper recorded inventory levels;
• Report maintenance and inventory issues or discrepancies to Operations Manager;
• Operate computer terminal to check-out customers and research new products.
• Be familiar with the technical aspects of the company’s products and services in order to effectively counsel customers; and
• Utilize various technologies to fulfill job requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills;
• Maintain a satisfactory driving record as determined by the company and a current, valid state driver’s license;
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required;
• Maintain a professional company image at all times.;
• Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic or other hose manufacturing or hydraulic cylinder and pump repair a plus;
• Possess strong desire for quality and customer service and exceeding the customer’s expectations;
• May be required to work outside for brief periods in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions including both winter conditions with frequent snow or extreme summer heat and sun;
• Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time;
• Must be able or have a willingness to learn how to operate a forklift;
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds;
• Must be willing to adhere to proper safety protocols;
• Must be able to work autonomously in the field;
• Excellent attention to detail;
• Knowledge of computers a plus; and Must wear Personal Protective Equipment, if required.
