Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to our optometrist and ensure a smooth operation within our clinic. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a customer-focused attitude, and a willingness to learn about the optical field. This position is perfect for individuals interested in the intersection of healthcare and retail sales. The job requires 2 to 4 days a week 7 hours a day during week days and 5 hours Saturday. One year customer service experience and minimum of one year work commitment is required. Our office has been serving the Oakland community for 29 years with relaxed and friendly environment seeking the right person to train.
Responsibilities
- Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries
- Answering and responding to patient communications ( text, email, phone), prepping upcoming patient files, filing files, verifying and interpreting insurance benefits
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks to ensure proper processing of insurance claims.
- Educate patients on eyewear options, contact lenses, and proper eye care practices.
- Maintain inventory of optical products and supplies, ensuring the clinic is well-stocked.
- Maintaining/ cleaning of glasses and ophthalmic equipment maintaining clean environment
- Previous experience in a medical or optical setting is preferred but not required
- Strong customer service skills with an emphasis on communication skills
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
