What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading and Writing Tutor position at World of Writing Inc.?
Job Description:
- Provide one on one or small group instruction to students by (re)teaching subject material, study skills, test taking strategies, working on solutions to problems, and assessing students’ progress throughout the tutoring session.
- Ability to work with children in Elementary (Grades 1-5), Middle School (6-8), and/or High School (9-12).
- Have academic proficiency in one or more subjects (Reading and Writing) with an ability to tutor in AP/Honors courses.
- Ability to follow and implement curriculum.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignments.
- Ability to implement positive reinforcement strategies that maximize learning - in a cheerful and authentic manner.
- Ability to arrive for work prepared and on time.
- Ability to ask questions and provide constructive feedback to students.
- Communicate student progress by documenting and updating student records and following up with staff.
Tutor Education and Experience:
- Be currently enrolled in college or have a college degree.
- Have excellent reading, spelling, grammar, and writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills and friendly personality.
- Experience working with elementary, middle school, and or high school kids.
- Academic background in subject areas you wish to tutor.
- Must be detail-oriented, quality and precision focused.
- Must be team-oriented, cooperative and collaborative.
Hours:
Hours are flexible and may vary between Monday to Friday 9am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-3pm.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
