Sterile Processing Technician / Sterile Processing / Per Diem
The sterile processing and/or endoscopy technician provide personal care and professional excellence by assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Central Sterile cost center. Technician ensures that surgical instruments, instrument sets and both rigid and flexible endoscopes are prepared for use in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based clinical and regulatory guidelines.

Sterile Processing Technician / Sterile Processing / Per Diem
The sterile processing and/or endoscopy technician provide personal care and professional excellence by assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Central Sterile cost center. Technician ensures that surgical instruments, instrument sets and both rigid and flexible endoscopes are prepared for use in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based clinical and regulatory guidelines.
Major Tasks, Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, supply and equipment distribution in accordance with evidence-based clinical and regulatory guidelines as well as policies and procedures in the perioperative department.
- Inspects and assembles instruments and sets in compliance with manufacturer’s instructions and established guidelines
- Performs and documents required sterility assurance measures according to policy and procedures
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of unit equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendations and unit policy
- Collects data and runs reports as directed by department leadership
- As needed, inventories and assists with ordering supplies in support of patient care and administrative operations
- May perform decontamination, disinfection and inspects flexible endoscopes according to established policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Sterile Processing certification and obtained within 18 months of hire required
- BLS certified – if not current, can obtain through Wood County Hospital
- Endoscopy Reprocessing certification within 18 months of hire date, preferred
Variable Hours:
- Typical start-time between 0630-0900
- Typical end-time between 1500-1730
- Rotated shifts
- Rotation of call Monday through Friday from 1730-2030
- Weekend call rotated Saturday through Sunday from 0800-1600
- Holiday call rotation from 0800-1600
