What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant position at Workway?
We are a professional staffing firm, working with organizations across the country to place exceptional candidates. Currently, we are looking for a Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to support attorneys with high-volume caseloads, often using client vendor software. Our firm represents financial institutions, investors, title insurers, housing authorities, and select businesses in matters involving mortgage banking, consumer finance, real estate finance, and loan enforcement.
Your specific duties will include:
- Drafting proofs of claim, transfers of claim, notices of payment change, notices of post-petition fees and expenses, responses to notices of final cure, and various other pleadings as needed.
- Reviewing lengthy pay histories.
- Reviewing Chapter 13 Plans.
- Reviewing court dockets (PACER) and monitoring ECF emails for important filings.
- Updating and maintaining our in-house file tracking system.
- Liaising with clients through various systems (e.g., VendorScape, LPS, or others) and updating as needed.
- Overseeing and managing 150 case files.
- Researching process information while following established procedures.
- Communicating with attorneys, clients, third parties (such as homeowners), and outside counsel.
Required qualifications for the position include:
- Experience in the title, mortgage, or escrow industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of office-related experience in a busy legal setting.
- File processing experience.
- Experience working with attorneys.
- Previous proof of claim bankruptcy experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Typing speed of 50 WPM or higher.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Pay Rate Range: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Employees have access to healthcare benefits including medical, dental and vision as well as a 401(k) plan.
