What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Corporate Accountant position at Workspace Property Trust?
JOB SUMMARY:
The position’s primary responsibility is to lead the preparation and documentation of the monthly corporate accounting close process for a real estate investment trust with over 18 million square feet of office and industrial properties. The corporate accounting team is responsible for the accounting of cash, restricted cash, debt, equity, and related party transactions, as well as consolidation, internal and external reporting compliance, technical accounting, preparation of financial analytics, and review of externally prepared REIT compliance/income taxes. This role interacts heavily with the operations teams and various corporate departments within the Company, as well as having direct interaction with the financial reporting team and Chief Accounting Officer.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete monthly and quarterly accounting closes relating to the corporate entities, including bank reconciliations, restricted cash, accounting for accruals and prepaids, and intercompany fees among other areas.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly lender reporting.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly business partner reporting packages.
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies to ensure the integrity of the Company’s accounting, systems, processes, data and reporting.
• Assist the Senior Corporate Accountant, Corporate Controller, Chief Accounting Officer and/or financial reporting team, as directed.
• Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation packages to address ad hoc managerial and business partner analysis and external auditor requests.
• Exhibit proficiency with the Company’s general ledger and operational systems.
• Prioritize and perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Mix of public accounting and/or industry experience.
• Demonstrated initiative and self-management skills.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to drive results and meet strict deadlines.
• Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required for this position.
• High level of computer skills; experience with Yardi a plus, or similar real estate accounting software.
• Advanced proficiencies in the use of Excel.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in Accounting.

THIS POSITION IS HYBRID WITH WORK IN THE OFFICE MONDAY THRU THURSDAY AND REMOTE ON FRIDAY. Annual salary range is $72,000 to $75,000 per year plus 5% annual bonus.
Salary : $72,000 - $75,000
