Work for a contractor for the Eugene Postal Service picking up mail in Springfield and delivering it to Coos Bay and taking mail from Coos Bay and delivering it to Springfield, in one day. This is a fill-in, on call position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid CDL Class A and Medical Card.
- 2 years CDL driving experience required (5 years preferred).
- Comfortable driving manual transmission as well as automatic.
- Complete Finger printing.
- Pass Background check.
- Pass Drug screening.
- Pass DMV record check (within past 30 days).
- Open to flexible hours Part to Full-time, any day of the week; depending on business need.
- Open to being on-call to cover shifts when needed including weekends.
- Strong attention to detail in completing safety inspection.
- Experience backing up into tight fitting docks.
- To take pride in the cleanliness and care of company fleet and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and rules.
JOB DUTIES:
- Drive from Springfield to Coos Bay and back safely and in accordance with all safety guidelines.
- Load and unload Postal Services packages and mail on pallets and in wire cages.
- Back truck up to a loading dock, which may be a tight fit, on a daily basis.
- To arrive and depart on time. Bid renewals and contracts for work are based on on-time performance, so being on time is crucial.
- To follow instructions and complete daily logs as required.
- Handle company equipment and fleet with care.
- Properly strap loads according to safety requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean truck cab.
- To complete daily truck inspections with a strong attention to detail.
- Maintain a professional, friendly demeanor when engaging at docks.
PAY:
- Pay is $36.03 per hour.
- Training time is paid at half of the full hourly wage.
HOURS/SHIFT:
- 3 days a week depending on business need. Shift starts at 12:40 am, leaving from Springfield at 1:00 am to drive to Coos Bay, unload and return to Springfield by 7:20 am.
