Position Summary
Workplace Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and design-driven Architectural Interiors Designer to support our growing Architectural Interiors division. This role is responsible for the design, coordination, and documentation of demountable wall systems, glass fronts, doors, and related architectural interior solutions from concept through installation.
The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to help deliver high-quality projects that align with client expectations, construction schedules, and WPS standards.
This position works closely with Sales, Project Management, Estimating, Installation Teams, General Contractors, Architects, and manufacturer partners including Teknion.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Documentation
- Develop space planning, wall layouts, and detailed shop drawings for demountable wall systems and architectural interior products.
- Produce complete drawing packages including plans, elevations, sections, details, and installation documentation.
- Create and revise drawings using CET, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and related software platforms.
- Coordinate design intent with field conditions, reflected ceiling plans, MEP systems, and adjacent trades.
- Incorporate project specifications, addenda, and client standards into final documentation.
- Maintain drawing accuracy and organization throughout all project phases.
Project Coordination
- Participate in project kickoff meetings with Sales, Project Managers, and clients.
- Coordinate with Project Management and Installation teams to support successful field execution.
- Assist with field verification efforts and incorporate site measurements into final drawings.
- Respond to RFIs, drawing revisions, and coordination requests during construction.
- Support order preparation and product application reviews with manufacturers and vendors.
- Maintain organized project files and communication records within company systems.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop solutions that balance design intent, constructability, budget, and schedule.
- Support Sales teams with conceptual layouts, budgets, renderings, and product application recommendations.
- Communicate professionally with architects, designers, general contractors, and end users.
- Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes.
Standards & Quality
- Follow WPS design standards, file structures, and documentation procedures.
- Ensure all drawings align with manufacturer standards and installation requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of design workflows, processes, and best practices.
- Maintain awareness of current architectural interior products, trends, and applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in commercial interiors, architectural products, or demountable wall systems preferred.
- Experience with glass wall systems, storefront systems, or architectural interiors strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in CET, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and architectural coordination.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of commercial construction processes and field conditions preferred.
