We are hiring on behalf of our mining client that is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for their Arizona location. It is a great time to get in there and become part of their team.
This role is focused on mine-site infrastructure, feasibility studies, and capital project management. It requires 10 years of experience, a relevant engineering degree, and proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Slide, MinePlan). You will oversee feasibility studies, manage budgets/contractors, and provide technical design expertise for foundations and earthworks within a mining environment.

Role Overview:
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will help to coordinate engineering and procurement improvement activities across projects and technical operations—while overseeing mining designs, mine plans, mining facilities, and earthworks to support responsible, sustainable production of critical metals like copper for the global energy transition.
Reports to the Senior Manager of Technical Services
Location: Arizona
Full-Time
- Feasibility & Planning: Lead or participate in engineering feasibility studies, calculating capital/operating costs and manpower requirements for mine-site facilities.
- Technical Reporting: Author geotechnical and soil reports to guide structural design for various site projects.
- Design & Engineering:
- Provide geotechnical support for soil structures, foundations, and pile design.
- Evaluate and interpret geotechnical instrumentation data.
- Recommend engineering, design, and construction adaptations.
- Project & Budget Management:
- Develop and monitor budgets for supervised areas.
- Manage external consultants and contractors.
- Oversee large capital projects from inception to completion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geological, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience: 10 years in mining and construction.
- Software Skills: Exposure to geotechnical software (e.g., Slide, MinePlan) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work with limited supervision, collaborate with diverse professional groups, and communicate confidently at all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in open-pit mining and mining projects.
- Knowledge of budget and cost management
